Denoise, the duo project of sine wave specialist Klaus Filip and experimental vocalist Agnes Hvizdalek, attempts to expand time and space with music. Through their overnight performances, they take their audience to the edges of awareness and contentment. It’s allowed and even encouraged to fall asleep. In exchange, the music gently penetrates your dreams, with Hvizdalek and Fiilip offering slowly undulating vocal sounds and pure digital synthesis. Though their sound sources could not be more different, they seamlessly meld together to create a consistent aesthetic statement. The result is at once challenging and intimate.

The Austrian duo shares a strong desire to explore and rethink what defines music. Their collaboration is characterized by a generous understanding of time combined with a radical sense of form and structure. Their persistence and precision in these lines of inquiry make them capable of crafting fragile situations that oscillate between intensity and silence.

Klaus Filip was one of the first to use a laptop on stage and is the founder of the live music software project „ppooll“ that is used by improvisers around the globe.

Agnes Hvizdalek has gained international acclaim for her abstract vocal music that manifests her fascination by the human voice.

Voicehandler plays intuitive, incantatory music grounded in the most primitive and somatic instruments—the voice and percussion—juxtaposed with contemporary, disembodied electronics. We situate ourselves in our physical and social environment through our music. Our improvisations are shaped by their setting and context, and we use site-specific installations to more deeply experience spaces. We deconstruct song forms in relation to mythology and literature to explore our humanity and the shifting discourse surrounding it.
